When the first trailer dropped for ‘Alien: Isolation,’ no one knew about these two new modes that were set to bring back the original cast in a fun way! While it was easy to tell that this game was going to be something special, it was unclear just how special it would be! The look, the survival horror aspect, everything screamed that the subtle shift in game play from a standard FPS meant that this was going to be the ‘Alien’ game to play.

These two modes are currently bonus content available as pre-order content so if you don’t snag them soon, they probably will show up about 6 months later as standard DLC.

The first mode up is called ‘Crew Expendable and brings you the surviving cast members as they try to take out the Alien on board their ship.

“Crew Expendable” sees the original crew reunited aboard the Nostromo. Brett and Kane are dead; alongside Ash and Lambert, it is now down to the player as Dallas, Parker or Ellen Ripley, to find a way to isolate the Alien and overcome the terror that confronts them..

The second mode is ‘Last Survivor’ and puts you directly into Ripley’s shoes as she tries to make her escape.

“Last Survivor” picks up the story as Ripley tries to escape on the Narcissus. On hearing the screams of Lambert and Parker, the player must navigate their way back down through the Nostromo in order to activate the self-destruct sequence, before retracing their steps back to the Narcissus shuttle and escape.

You can check out the video below to get a better idea of what to expect from the original ‘Alien’ cast being thrown into the game.

Discover the true meaning of fear in this survival horror, set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.

As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

So I haven’t been playing video games in a little while due to having a newborn in the house, but this is quite likely the first game that is going to be changing that. Mixing my love of survival horror, video games, and the movie that dragged me kicking and screaming into my love of the horror genre at a young age – I am dying to see a game that can match that feeling!

If the new take on the ‘Alien’ franchise didn’t grab you enough, has the ‘Crew Expendable’ or ‘Last Survivor’ bonus content helped sway your decision? Share your thoughts below! Just remember, while in space no one can hear you scream, anyone else in your house can so don’t play this too late at night when it comes out in October.

‘Alien: Isolation’ will be available on October 7th, 2014
