Almost a month ago we found out that Aaron Paul (‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Need For Speed’) had met with Ron Howard (‘The Da Vinci Code’, ‘Apollo 13’) about ‘The Dark Tower‘ and the name Eddie came up in conversation. All of this sounded like we might finally be hearing about casting for the film and that it was moving forward. Sadly this just isn’t the case as producer Akiva Goldsman (‘I Am Legend’, ‘I, Robot’) has weighed in on the matter.

Goldsman was asked point blank about ‘The Dark Tower’ and his response was disheartening:

“It’s not officially back on and we will never let it go – until Stephen takes it away from us. [Laughs].”

Well if it’s not moving forward does that mean Howard could still be doing casting right? Well, bad nows there as well with Goldsman saying, “No, but I love reading about it!”

Previously Howard has said that “The Dark Tower is something that we’re still working on. We’ve all taken a vow of silence about the progress, the headway, what we think our timetable is, because I don’t think I realized how much media interest there was in the title and how much excitement there was.” So that begs one to wonder. Is the casting actually happening and this is all a cover up? Or is that just wishful thinking imagining that Aaron could still be up for the role of Eddie Dean? Share your thoughts below!

Boxed Set Synopsis:

Set in a world of ominous landscape and macabre menace, The Dark Tower features one of Stephen King’s most powerful creations—The Gunslinger, a haunting figure who embodies the qualities of the lone hero through the ages, from ancient myth to frontier Western legend. As Roland crosses a desert of damnation in a macabre world that is a twisted image of our own, he moves ever closer to the Dark Tower of his dreams—and nightmares.
