We’ve had an international and an action filled trailer for ‘RoboCop’ so far, but this is the first domestic TV spot to be released for the film! With only a month to go until the film’s release, it’s actually kind of surprising that we’re only now seeing the first TV spot hit for such a blockbuster film.

Sure the film might not be an “American superhero movie” in the recent meaning of the words, but RoboCop has never been your classic American superhero either.

Check out the TV spot below to see what I mean:

Synopsis:

In ‘RoboCop’, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Did the heavy use of both air and humanoid drones catch your interest? How about the throw back to the original uniform briefly shown? Maybe the return of Ed-209 or RoboCop’s use of his “Dead or Alive, you’re coming with me” catchphrase? While I don’t think is the strongest material I’ve seen them release to date, I am happy to finally start seeing some coverage on the air as this is a film I’ve increasingly wanted to see.

What do you think of the most recent TV spot? Is it a bit under par compared to what we’ve seen so far or does it hit the right tone for the U.S. television audiences?

‘Robocop’ stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldmann, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley and will be in theaters on February 7th, 2014.
