Do you love graphic novels and horror? It’s an ever increasingly popular category in Hollywood these days (I’m sure it helps that’s it’s being fueled by the runaway juggernaut, ‘The Walking Dead’) With an increasing love for the genre, there are more and more works coming out. You can now include ‘I Frankenstein, to that group and this time we’re being treated with an animated movie poster for the film.

The best part about ‘I, Frankenstein,’ in my opinion, is that Frankenstein’s monster is not an overused horror character. We’ve had a slew of zombies, vampires, and werewolves thrown into the mix over the past few years but no classic horror monsters like Frankenstein’s monster and the Mummy as of late. Since it’s hard for Hollywood to come up with much new, I’m glad to see some classic gems being looked at in a new light.

In this world, Frankenstein’s monster is going by the name of Adam Frankenstein (Aaron Eckhart) and is going to be trapped in an a war between ancient clans of gargoyles vs. demons who have been at war with each other forever. How is he going to get stuck in the middle? Well both sides appear to want nothing more than to find the secret of his immortality.

Bill Nighy is going to be playing a fallen angel in the film on par with Satan, so we’re going to have two great sets of acting chops competing with one another. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m more excited to see Nighy playing a fallen angel or Eckhart returning to a comic themed film considering how awesome he was in ‘The Dark Knight!’ Let’s be honest, the way Nighy carries himself mixed with his voice he was born to play the roll of a fallen angel with a bit of a demonic presence going on.

The film is being written and directed by Stuart Beattie who has had his hands involved with ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ and ’30 Days of Night’ so I believe will have the right mix to really take the script and make it shine.

The film itself is set to be released (in 3D and 2D) on January 24th, 2014. A late birthday present for me and one that I’m dying to get a chance to see firsthand!
