In the startling cancellation of the two current “DC Nation” cartoons, ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series’ and ‘Young Justice: Invasion’, long-running DC animation veterans, Producer Bruce Timm and voice director Andrea Romano, attended the West Coast premier of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 and, of course, were asked about the cancelled shows.

Timm, who was an Executive Producer on ‘Green Lantern,’ stated, “I honestly couldn’t tell you exactly. We do have the new Teen Titans show and the Batman show coming up. Hopefully those will do very well and kinda keep the DC animation thing going on TV. Beyond that, you know, I don’t know. It’s kind of an interesting time. I’m gonna keep busy doing stuff.”

Romano maintained that it was important to keep churning out DC product on television but lamented that there weren’t more series that were “female oriented.”  (Um, ‘Super Best Friends Forever,” Cartoon Network?  Or maybe they’re afraid that that will detract from their relaunch of the Powerpuff Girls.)  Romano expressed that she had seen some early footage from ‘Beware The Batman’ and described it as “awesome.”

So it sounds like life goes on for these professionals.  Both are sure to be very busy working on various projects.  I’d like to hear from some of the people that were more involved in the development of these shows, but I’m sure they aren’t going to bite the hand that feeds them too harshly.  But that’s okay, the fans are spewing enough for them!
