One of the best animated movies from this year is definitely Disney’s ‘Wreck-It Ralph’. Scoring over $200 million worldwide, audiences are certainly enjoying the heartwarming message and video game nostalgia mixed with that trademark Disney magic. In today’s day and age, those kinds of numbers almost definitely mean a sequel is coming. Now, it seems like we’ve received confirmation that more Ralph, Vanellope, and the whole gang will be racing to the big screen once again from those closest to the film.

According to Movie Hole, stars John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman and director Rich Moore are all saying that a sequel is practically guaranteed. Silverman flat out says that one is coming, but Reilly elaborates and says why:

“They wouldn’t make [all that] merchandise, if [Disney] didn’t have plans for other [Wreck-it Ralph] stories. Some of the big muckety-muckets at the studio, who I just saw the other night, were like ‘We’re talking sequel!’” The movie made $150 million dollars in eleven days, it broke the box-office record for Disney animated movies on opening weekend. If that’s any indication that we’ll be doing a sequel… I bet we’ll be doing a sequel.”

Moore goes so far as to drop a few hints at what we may expect in a sequel. After revealing that he’s been talking about a sequel recently, he said that he wouldn’t dream of handing over Ralph to another director and that he has some plans for a certain video game icon that didn’t appear in the first movie.

“We’ll really come up with something good for Mario to do [in the next film]. To be able to present him in the sequel, would be great.”

The story goes that Nintendo wouldn’t let Moore use Mario, but compromised and allowed him to use Bowser instead. However, the director reveals that the actual reason that the princess-saving plumber wasn’t in the movie was because they didn’t have anywhere to put him. Now, it looks like Mario will be the first of potentially a ton of video game character cameos. I really enjoyed the cameos in the first film, so hopefully the ones in the second one are just as good.
