Finally, I get some Illuminati action in ‘New Avengers’! It was only a matter of time until this group got together to discuss the war going on between The Avengers and The X-Men.
There are so many great things about this issue that I don’t really know where to begin. My favorite part has to be when the members of the Illuminati are gathering in the undisclosed location. The dialogue between various characters is awesome, such as the interactions between Cap and Iron Man and between Reed Richards, Doctor Strange, and Tony Stark. Then Charles Xavier enters and we see a whole new side of Professor X. He’s clearly a distraught man because of all this AvX business.
While all those interactions were great, the crowning glory was Cap and Namor coming face to face. Because of their storied history together, it was only a matter of time until their paths crossed during this whole ordeal. As much as I like seeing the battles and the tactics utilized by both sides, this moment of calm among the chaos was very compelling to witness.
When it comes down to it, this is a wonderful character piece. I enjoyed seeing the different stances that each one of these prominent figures in the Marvel Universe took in regards to Avengers vs. X-Men.
