Production just started on ‘The Wolverine’ this week in Australia and set photos have already hit the web from two locations. First, as noted a few days ago, the team started with scenes for the World War II POW camp. Filming for this took place in Kurnell, Sydney. While taking a break from shooting, star Hugh Jackman had this to say about the location and what’s to come:

“It’s a beautiful spot here. This is the first time I’ve been to Kurnell and the location is great. Yesterday I was up at half past three and this morning I was up at quarter to five. They got to do some shots without me this morning, so I got a bit of a sleep in. This is the second and final day of shooting on-site at Kurnell. Production for the film will continue around Sydney and a few weeks in Japan before it wraps up mid-November.”

Check out the photos from Kurnell below, in which you can see quite a bit of shirtless Jackman, courtesy of Comic Book Resources:

The next set of pictures comes from the shoot in the small town of Picton. According to Geek Tyrant, they made the street look like a “snowy American town”, but if you look closer, specifically at the cop car, you’ll see that it’s actually a Canadian town.

‘The Wolverine’, directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, and possibly Svetlana Khodchenkova, opens in theaters on July 26, 2013.
