If you’ve been following ‘Falling Skies’ then you know that last week’s episode was an eye opener! To complement the show, the producers have released two behind-the-scenes featurette talking about the harness factory and raises some questions from the episode. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, then you may want to skip this post as there are definitely spoilers here!

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!

This season has taken the audiences and the 2nd Mass into new territory as we get a closer interaction with the aliens (Skitters, fish face, Mechs, et al). But it was last week’s episode that was an eye opening experience as we learn that the harness really is a living thing that attaches to the humans.

The first featurette explains where the idea of the harness came from. Apparently, Steven Spielberg saw a movie called ‘The Tingler’ that was made in the 1950’s. If you take a look at the creature in this movie, it is very similar to what the harness looks like. The producers took this idea and expounded upon it to make it the harness we’ve come to known.

In the second featurette, the producers bring up questions that arose from last week’s episode like how does the harness really affect the humans, what is it with Ben’s spikes and will we see Weaver’s daughter, Jeanie, again.

The foremost question on my mind, however, is when will we get to see Pope again? In an interview with Collider, Colin Cunningham, who plays the irascible Pope, really doesn’t say but does comment on what he would like to see his character do in Season 3:

“Yeah, I would like to see a 3rd Massachusetts that is run by Pope, and that is at complete and total odds with the 2nd Massachusetts. We’d have two completely different ways of fighting these aliens, and he’s not afraid to even fight the 2nd Mass. I think that would be very interesting to see.”

We’re about halfway through this season’s ‘Falling Skies’ episodes before the finale is aired. What questions did you have since the last episode and where do you think the story will go now? And what’s with the Red Eye Skitter and the bug from Tom’s eye? Sound out below!
