Rules and Guidelines
All of our contests, unless specifically noted, are open to all participants regardless of residence or citizenship, so long as the laws of their jurisdiction allow participation.
All submissions must be received through specified outlets to be considered. These outlets include, but are not limited to, email, social media and direct mailings.
Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant us a license. You must be able to disclose when and where the submission appeared previously to www.ScienceFiction.com upon request.
Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. The judges of all contests are ScienceFiction.com staff members familiar with the category of the contest, unless otherwise noted.
ScienceFiction.com shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.
ScienceFiction.com reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
Fine Print
By submitting this art, I release, transfer and assign all rights, including without limitation copyright, in and to this art to ScienceFiction.com. I hereby assign to ScienceFiction.com any rights which are not deemed automatically granted by submission of the art and ScienceFiction.com shall have the right to use, and authorize others to use, such art in any manner and by any means and media in perpetuity throughout the world without restriction. As conditions of this permission, www.ScienceFiction.com shall credit all photographs with the caption “© Person’s Name” when the full name is available.
By submitting this art you represent, warrant and covenant that you own or otherwise have the right to grant the licenses set forth herein for your submission and your submission does not infringe, misappropriate or violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, intellectual property rights, or any other rights of any person or entity or violate any applicable laws, rules or regulations, and the submission that you submit and post will not contain third party copyrighted material or material that is subject to other third party proprietary right sunless you have permission from the rightful owner of the material or you are otherwise legally entitled to post the material and to grant the license rights set forth herein. You have full responsibility for your submission, including its legality, appropriateness, and trademark and copyright ownership.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold ScienceFiction.com, its affiliates, officers, directors, agents, and other partners and employees, harmless from and against any loss, liability, claim, or demand, including reasonable attorney’s fees, made by any third party due to or arising from your breach of this Agreement, your violation of any third party right, including, without limitation, any copyright, property, or privacy right, or your violation of any applicable local, state, federal or international law, rule or regulation.
