Hi DC heroes! There has been a lot of speculation as to whether Henry Cavill would continue in his role as Superman for the DC Cinematic Universe. Fear not! Could this statement from ‘Black Adam’ director Hiram Garcia indicate that there may a possibility for Cavill to return as the Man of Steel?
“I think the DC Universe is a wonderful universe and we’re open to everything. We have big aspirations for it. We’re friends with Henry. [Dwayne] and Henry are friends, it’s a huge comic book brand as well. And I always just loved the idea. Who knows? But man, Black Adam for Superman is really cool. That’d be really powerful.”
Though Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Superman divided fans, it also generated a passionate following. Mr. Cavill indeed, tries to be a Superman on and off-stage!
The particular portrayal of Superman by the Brit actor was note-worthy as a modern re-telling of the character. It attempted to be a deconstruction of the mythical character by the creative vision of Zack Snyder and presented a modern take that showed Superman making questionable moral choices such as the killing of Zod in ‘Man of Steel’ which passionately divided fans.
Black Adam was originally scheduled to appear in the April 2019 DC Film ‘Shazam’ alongside Shazam portrayed by Zachary Levi. Dwayne Johnson has signed on a Black Adam film since 2014, and the film has been on the DC Universe release slate since then.
Lately, the Superman actor has been busy with season 1 of ‘The Witcher’, a Netflix fantasy web series. Early reviews show great promise for the show. Rolling Stone has listed the show on the 10 best shows to watch in December 2019.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is scheduled to portray Black Adam and the movie is set to release on December 22, 2021.
