Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker' Character Posters - Rey

‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ has unveiled 13 new character posters showcasing new and old characters.  From the original trilogy, there are posters devoted to Billy Dee Williams‘ Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2.  From the previous films in the modern trilogy, there are Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), and BB-8.  And finally, making their debut in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ are Zorii Bliss (Keri Russell), Jannah (Naomi Ackie), and new droid D-O.

Each figure is positioned in front of a starfield background with white around the edges, making them look sort of like trading cards.  They lack a little cohesion because these pictures weren’t specifically taken for these posters.  It wouldn’t be as noticeable if the shot they used of Jannah wasn’t from a picture in which she is shown riding on the back of a steed, while the others are standing.

You can check out the new posters below:

J.J. Abrams directed ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ with a script he co-wrote with Chris Terrio.  Not included among the new posters are Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa (archival footage), Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Richard E. Grant as Allegiant General Pryde, Greg Grunberg as Snap Wexley, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker (Force Ghost), Billie Lourd as Lieutenant Connix, Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, and Dominic Monaghan in an undisclosed role.

The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more in the final chapter of the Skywalker saga.

Not much is known about the plot, but there is a lot to squeeze in, as this is the ninth and final movie in the franchise, which began in 1977.  To that end, this will be the longest ‘Star Wars’ movie yet, at two hours and 35 minutes.

‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ will be released on December 20.
