Scooby-Dooby-Doo… who are you? The Mystery Inc. gang are back… not that they’re ever really gone for that long, and they’re headed for the big screen in the new animated film simply entitled ‘Scoob!’ and they have gotten a makeover. Luckily for purists, they haven’t been completely overhauled.
Scooby basically looks exactly the same as he does in the cartoons, just in a more 3D digital style. Shaggy also looks almost exactly as he always has, with the addition to a gray shirt underneath his famous green V-neck.

The other three, however, look a little more human, which is odd when you see them standing beside the still cartoon-y Shaggy. Velma is wearing her classic outfit– orange turtleneck sweater, reddish-brown pleated skirt, knee socks, and shoes. Oh, and of course her glasses. Daphne wears an approximation of her classic look, as it was modernized for ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ but she isn’t wearing the opaque lavender tights and she has subbed in cute ankle boots. Though her green ascot is gone, she seems to have a green collar to replace it. She also has longer, flowy-er hair. Finally, Fred has also been modernized a bit– yes, the ascot is dead. He seems dressed for comfort in broken-in jeans, sneakers, a tee-shirt, and bomber jacket. (At least he still has blond hair, Robbie Amell.)

It has already been revealed that ‘Scoob!’ would flash back to their younger days (like in ‘A Pup Named Scooby-Doo’), and that last picture gives a glimpse of that.
Longtime Scooby voicer, Frank Welker will reprise that role in ‘Scoob!’, while Will Forte voices Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez voices Velma, Zac Efron, voices Fred, and Amanda Seyfred voices Daphne. Iain Armitage will voice young Shaggy, with Ariana Greenblatt as young Velma, Pierce Gagnon as young Fred, and Mckenna Grace as young Daphne. ‘Scoob!’ will also feature characters from other Hanna-Barbera cartoons, with Mark Wahlberg voicing Blue Falcon, Ken Jeong as Dyno-Mutt, Dog Wonder, Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, Kiersy Clemons as Teen Angel DeeDee Sykes, and Jason Isaacs as the voice of baddie Dick Dastardly, from the ’60s toon ‘Wacky Races’. Hopefully, we’ll see a preview of these characters as the film gets closer to release.
‘Scoob!’ will be released on May 15, 2020.
