Marvel Studios likes to release at least a trilogy of their notable characters, so we’ve all been expecting a third ‘Ant-Man‘ to hit sooner than later. While much of the Lang family, and by extension the Pym family, felt like they had solid arcs told throughout the first two films and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ it is clear that there were still plenty of stories to tell. How the Langs are going to deal with so much time having been lost as well as how the Pyms respond to returning to a world after the snap are just drops in the bucket. We still have huge mysteries surrounding Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost and what their future roles could be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, we’re learning we won’t have to wait too much longer to see what these two families are up to. Michael Douglas was recently interviewed about the second season of his smash Netflix hit ‘The Kominsky Method,’ and it is hard for an actor not to be peppered with questions concerning the MCU if they are involved in it.
Douglas didn’t say anything about ‘Ant-Man 3‘ but did confirm that it is happening and when they’ll be shooting it! Or, at least when Douglas will begin shooting his scenes:
“The Marvel world has really been a blast! I love them, I’m having a great time. We’re starting a third [Ant-Man] in the beginning of January 2021.”
So far, Douglas has had a pretty active role in the first two films, and as that is likely to continue, you can imagine that he’ll play a major part in the third one as well. This places ‘Ant-Man 3’ in a position most likely to be released in 2022. While Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to reveal this as a Phase 4 title, I don’t think that the revelation it is in pre-production will come as a shock to anyone who has followed the franchise. Especially, as director Peyton Reed had already signed on to direct the movie.
