Superman & Lois Lane To Star Tyler Hoechlin And Elizabeth Tulloch
The CW

Want to see more of Tyler Hoechlin‘s Superman and/or Elizabeth Tulloch‘s Lois Lane?  You may get your wish!  The CW is developing a new series ‘Superman & Lois Lane’.  Former ‘Flash’ showrunner, Todd Helbing will write and executive produce.  Helbing previously wrote for another Superman series, ‘Smallville’.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “the potential show would follow the super-duo as they deal with all of the stress, pressures, and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society.”  No additional information was provided, but it sounds like Helbing is crafting a stand-alone pilot, which is different from the approach being taken with another potential Arrowverse series ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’.  That concept will be introduced in an “inserted episode” or backdoor pilot during ‘Arrow’s current eighth and final season.

Hoechlin was introduced as Clark Kent/Superman in Season 2 of ‘Supergirl’ (a body double made obscured cameos in Season 1).  Tulloch’s Lois made her debut during last year’s ‘Elseworlds’ crossover, at which time it was revealed that she was pregnant.  Clark and Lois informed Kara that they would be moving to Argo City, where Clark, and more importantly, their unborn baby, would not have superpowers, thus allowing a healthy pregnancy for Lois.  When last seen, Lois had accepted Clark’s wedding proposal.  Both Lois and Superman will return in the upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.

There has been chatter about Hoechlin’s Superman possibly getting his own series for years, pretty much since he first appeared.  This news doesn’t confirm that it’s absolutely happening, but it’s a step closer.  ‘Arrow’ leaves the lineup after this season, but The CW is still packed with DC shows with ‘The Flash’, ‘Supergirl’, ‘Black Lightning’, the brand new ‘Batwoman’, and the currently on-hiatus ‘Legends of Tomorrow’.  ‘Black Lightning’ isn’t currently connected to the others, but that looks to change with “Crisis on Infinite Earths.”  As stated, there is another potential series on its way in the form of ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’.  Is there room on The CW’s schedule for two new Arrowverse shows?

Then again– hate to be negative, but…– ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ has always been the poorest-rated of the DC shows.  It isn’t airing at this time but will return next year.  But if The CW wants to pick up both ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’ and ‘Superman & Lois Lane’, it’s possible that ‘Legends’ will be axed to make room.

Are you interested in seeing ‘Superman & Lois Lane’ with Hoechlin and Tulloch?  Or should they remain occasional guest-stars?
