Netflix’s ‘The Toys That Made Us’ is returning for a third season, which will feature specials dedicated to ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, ‘My Little Pony’, ‘Power Rangers’, and wrestling. The first two seasons were a big hit with nostalgic fans and collectors. The show features interviews with the creators of the original toys, as well as other toy business insiders, and of course fans. The previous episodes showcased ‘Star Wars’, ‘Barbie’, ‘Masters of the Universe’, ‘G.I. Joe’, ‘Star Trek’, ‘Transformers’, LEGO, and Hello Kitty. While some have centered on a single toy line from a specific manufacturer, others have shown broader properties that have crossed over to many manufacturers and different lines. (But can you believe they haven’t done episodes for either Marvel or DC Comics toys?!)

The show’s Instagram account has released a trailer for the upcoming third season:
The first season was released just before Christmas in 2017, and the second came in May of 2018. That means it’s been over a year, but there will just be a couple of weeks before the next batch arrives on November 15.
In 1981, Hasbro released the first ‘My Pretty Pony’ toys, which would later evolve into the more colorful (and smaller) ‘My Little Pony’ the next year. LJN released the first toys based on WWF wrestlers in 1984, and they were called ‘Wrestling Superstars’. The first ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ toys were released by Playmates Toys in 1986, to coincide with the cartoon series. The first ‘Power Rangers’ toys, ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ were released in the US by Bandai in 1993.
