Christopher Eccleston

While it is highly unlikely that Christopher Eccleston’s Malekith from ‘Thor: The Dark World’ would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor would be interested if he had a condition met. Apparently, it has to do with the writers of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ as it sounds like he was a huge fan of what Taika Waititi delivered in the movie. He feels that it was “brilliantly written” and would love to be involved in something which they put together.

The actor shared that if he were to return it would only be if:

“I understand that some people love that particular film, and some of you actually like Malekith the naughty elf, so that’s only my experience within it. But I know that people love the film and I accept that and I’m careful about it. I’m so diplomatic these days! If it was the guy[s], who wrote the third… I’ll do that.”

While death isn’t always permanent in the MCU, we did end up seeing Malekith crushed by his own ship in the final battle he had with the God of Thunder. Even if the writers wanted Malekith to return it feels like Eccleston’s previous comments of working on ‘Thor: The Dark World’ was “just a gun in your mouth” and that his experience working on the film was “I really paid for being a whore those times” seem unlikely to have won him any fans in Marvel Studios.

This was also the actor who nearly sued the BBC after leaving ‘Doctor Who’.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up if you’re a Malekith fan of seeing him trying to take over the universe again.

Would you be interested in seeing Christopher Eccleston play Malekith again in a future Thor movie? Do you feel if he were to return it should only be against Thor or would he make for a great villain against any of the other characters Marvel Studios has introduced or is about to?
