Zatanna
DC Comics

On, annataZ si ton gniog ot eb ni ‘ehT ediciuS dauqS’.  For some reason, a rumor surfaced that the DC sorceress Zatanna was going to appear in ‘The Suicide Squad’, the upcoming reboot/sequel from director James Gunn.  But first of all, that makes absolutely no sense, seeing as how Zatanna has nothing to do with the ‘Squad’ in the comics.  And it seems that Gunn agrees.

He took to Twitter to dispell that rumor, stating in part, “I have no idea where some of this stuff comes from. I never even thought of including her…”

You can read his entire tweet below:

Like I said, Zatanna has nothing to do with the Suicide Squad, so that is indeed a bizarre rumor to pop up.  On top of that, one of the biggest complaints about the first ‘Suicide Squad’ was the use of the super powerful Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) and her brother, Incubus (Alain Chanoine) as the villains, even though the Enchantress does have a comic-based connection to this team.

Gunn wouldn’t be dumb enough to replicate one of the elements that people most complained about regarding the first movie in his reboot.

There have been rumors that Zatanna may get her own movie, but so far that appears to have only been a rumor.  Had ‘Swamp Thing’ continued on DC Universe, it’s possible that she may have popped up on that, as the creators have said that their long-term plan for the show was to introduce Justice League Dark, an alliance of DC’s supernatural heroes and antiheroes.

Do you want to see Zatanna in the DC film universe?  If so, in what capacity?
