We know that Sony Pictures plans on bringing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the Sony films now that their deal with Marvel Studios has gone south. However, you have to wonder about the other characters and one key one is Jake Gyllenhaal’s take on Mysterio. While we saw Quentin Beck die at the end of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home,‘ it could very easily have been an illusion that Peter Parker saw which opens up a way for the villain to return. On top of that, we don’t know if Holland’s character will be the same Parker who was introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of if, thanks to ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ we will have a different Spidey running around who looks just like Tom Holland. That could be the easiest way for Sony to re-introduce these characters without having to give full reintroductions to them as currently each and every one of them has their creation wed to the MCU.

Pretending ties to the MCU aren’t an issue, Gyllenhaal was asked if he might ever return as the character for the Sinister Six. While his co-star Tom Sturridge was kidding around that Gyllenhaal might be taken out by a poisonous dart if he answered, the actor did weigh in:
“Oh, man. Wow. I mean, like, I think that — you know, I mean, you know. Oh, I lost my mic, sorry. Oh whoops, I lost my mic! I can’t answer your question. No, I mean, I think that I think… he’s dead, man. Right? Right? Right?”
If a deal is still struck and the characters do stay in Marvel Studios continuity, we never did see the character relinquish control of EDITH back to Parker, and the entire death could have been staged. If they do use the “Spider-Verse” or a multiverse option, there are plenty of ways that Beck could still be among the living.
