Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine

When ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’ was released in 2002 there had yet to be any interaction between Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Seven of Nine. Now, with decades having past that seems to have changed. The interaction between the two from the trailer for ‘Star Trek: Picard‘ seems to indicate not only have they met, but that they know one another. Now, Jeri Ryan, who plays the ex-Borg, is weighing in on what she is most excited for in the upcoming series.

Ryan expressed:

“Seven’s struggle was fun for me, and I missed sharing that with her and watching her learn how to be human again. I thought that journey was over. People asked at conventions are you going to do another one, another movie. No! We told her story. That was done. Are we going to see her on Earth becoming a housewife? I don’t want to see that. And then when I learned what they has planned for Seven in this new world, you can’t turn it down. It was too rich again, and too full of new adventures and new struggles and new discoveries.”

We’ve learned that Seven of Nine is going to be in more than one episode of ‘Star Trek: Picard’ and this statement indicates that we’ll have a character arc to the ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ co-star. We haven’t seen her with Picard’s band of misfits in any of the previews so far, but CBS All Access hasn’t really given us that much to go on quite yet.

With Seven of Nine having evolved since her time on Voyager, it will be interesting to see how much of a more normal human persona will have developed over the years and how many Borg mannerisms she might still have.

Are you looking forward to Seven of Nine being included in ‘Star Trek: Picard’? Do you feel that the character is going to be a significant player in the show or just be there to help move part of the plot along? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
