Fans excited for the upcoming ‘Picard’ series can soon start preparing for their viewing experiences by getting their hands on some ‘Star Trek’ themed wines being produced by Wines That Rock as part of an amazing new collection of wine inspired by the ‘Star Trek’ franchise and available exclusively at StarTrekWines.com.
The first two wines that will be available are a 2016 Chateau Picard Cru Bourgeois from Bordeaux, France, and a 2017 Special Reserve United Federation of Planets Old Vine Zinfandel, both of which will be featured at the upcoming ‘Star Trek’ Las Vegas Event (the biggest ‘Star Trek’ Convention in the US). Fans will be excited to know that the first 1701 two-bottle combination packs include a numbered, limited edition of the United Federation of Planets Special Reserve Old Vine Zinfandel, as well as knowing that the first 1701 collectors will also receive priority notices for all releases in the future.

As for the composition of the wines themselves, the 2016 Chateau Picard Bordeaux is an “….85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot blend that is subtly smoky and spicy with a bright, fresh, clean-tasting style.” Also, apparently the wine spends 14 months in the oak barrels, is 70% seasoned and 30% new.
The 2017 Old Vine Zinfandel United Federations of Planets wine as “…a blend of 87% Zinfandel, 12% Petit Sirah and 1% Syrah. It has aromatics of concentrated strawberry, blackberry and plum preserves with a chewy-layered mid-palate filled with hints of white peppercorn, sweet red and black fruit,” with Wines That Rock also stating the Zinfandel is a wine that is “Elegant, stately and dignified” and a “wine that Federation dignitaries might enjoy at their gatherings.” Clearly, there is a lot of love and passion going into these bottles, something I’m sure the fans will appreciate when they crack open a bottle and sit down to a glass while watching the new series.
