Filming is due to begin this week on the latest ‘Saw’ movie, which has an interesting new addition– comedian Chris Rock, who is starring and co-wrote the script.  And now word has arrived that he will be co-starring along with another unlikely actor, Samuel L. Jackson!  This information has been confirmed by the website Bloody Disgusting.

It’s been an up and down year for Jackson, who remains one of the busiest actors in Hollywood.  ‘Glass’, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, underperformed, and ‘Shaft’ was an outright flop.  However, Jackson also appeared in three of the biggest films of the year, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, and the current #1 movie in the world, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’.

Rock came up with the story for the new ‘Saw’, which was then adapted by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, who previously co-wrote ‘Jigsaw’.  The new film is being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed ‘Saw II’-‘IV’.

In May, when Rock’s involvement in the new ‘Saw’ movie was announced, Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chairman, Joe Drake stated:

“When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins-off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all-in. Saw is one of the highest grossing horror franchises of all-time and it’s one of Lionsgate’s most successful film series. This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous Saw films. Chris conceived this idea, and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision, and passion for this classic horror franchise.”
