Scooby-Doo and the gang are headed back and they’re bringing guests! The new series ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ will be available on the Boomerang app, and in the first trailer, the gang is seen teaming up with “Super Heroes” (Wonder Woman), “Super Sleuths” (Sherlock Holmes), and “Super Stars” (Houston Rockets’ Chris Paul, pop singer/songwriter Sia, comedians Ricky Gervais, and Wanda Sykes). Oh, and whatever you consider the ghost of Abraham Lincoln.
Check out the trailer below:
Reportedly, Chris Paul will be featured in the first episode.
In addition to the guests featured in the trailer, ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ will feature real-life stars like pop singer Halsey, ‘Star Wars’ legend Mark Hamill, comedian/actors Jim Gaffigan, Kenan Thompson, and Whoopi Goldberg, magicians Penn & Teller, musician “Weird Al” Yankovic, and scientists Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson, as well as Steve Urkel (voiced by Jaleel White), and DC Comics’ Batman and the Flash.
‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ features the usual voice cast of Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo and Fred Jones, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy Rogers, Grey Griffin as Daphne Blake, and Kate Micucci as Velma Dinkley. The celebrities supply their own voices. Kevin Conroy will voice Batman, with Rachel Kimsey as Wonder Woman, Ian James Corlett as Sherlock Holmes, and John DiMaggio as Abraham Lincoln.
This series is a spiritual successor to ‘The New Scooby-Doo Movies’ which originally aired from 1972-74, and teamed the Mystery Inc. crew with celebrities both real and fictional like The Addams Family, Batman & Robin, The Harlem Globetrotters, Don Knotts, Sonny & Cher, Dick Van Dyke, and more.
Scooby-Doo subsequently teamed up with Batman as well as “Weird Al” Yankovic in a 2011 episode of ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ and then the 2018 movie ‘Scooby-Doo and Batman: The Brave and the Bold’ which also featured Aquaman, Black Canary, Detective Chimp, Martian Manhunter, Plastic Man, and The Question.
Though both the Hanna Barbera characters like Scooby and the DC Superheroes are owned by Warner Brothers, this show will mark the first animated meetings between Mystery Inc. and Wonder Woman and The Flash.
Scooby and the gang also appeared last year in a crossover with ‘Supernatural’ in the episode “Scoobynatural.”
Separately, WB is prepping a theatrical animated movie, ‘Scoob’ with an (almost) all-new voice cast, including Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo, Will Forte as Shaggy Rogers, Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley, Zac Efron as Fred Rogers, and Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake, plus Kiersey Clemons as Teen Angel Dee Dee Sykes, Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly, Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, and Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon. ‘Scoob’ will be released on May 15, 2020.
‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ will arrive on Boomerang on June 27.
