David Tennant and Michael Sheen in Good Omens
Good Omens/Amazon

As we reported yesterday, 20,000 Christians signed a petition to convince Netflix to cancel the series ‘Good Omens’ which these people found offensive for religious reasons, including the fact that a woman, Frances McDormand, provided the voice of God.  Of course, the biggest issue is that ‘Good Omens’ isn’t a Netflix series.  It’s on Amazon.  Nevertheless, Netflix has responded appropriately.

The Netflix UK & Ireland Twitter account announced that they will not produce any more episodes of ‘Good Omens’.  And just to reiterate, Netflix has produced no episodes, as it is not their show.

The other problem with this petition is that ‘Good Omens’ was a six-episode miniseries, which was released in its entirety on May 31st, meaning the whole thing is out there and done.  There’s nothing to cancel.

Even so, Amazon has reacted to the petition by offering to not produce any more episodes of Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, if Netflix promises not to make any more ‘Good Omens’.

The petition was drafted by the Return to Order campaign, an offshoot of the US Foundation for a Christian Civilisation.  They charged that ‘Good Omens’ is “another step to make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable”, and “mocks God’s wisdom.”  Heh.  No one’s mocking GOD’S “wisdom,” chuckleheads.

For his part, the show’s creator Neil Gaiman seemed to find the whole thing amusing.

Return to Order has previously gone after AMC’s ‘Preacher’ and the comedy movie ‘Office Christmas Party’.

Unless you’re easily offended, you can find all six episodes of ‘Good Omens’ on AMAZON PRIME VIDEO.  You can find a bunch of other stuff that is not ‘Good Omens’ on Netflix.
