We’ve heard constantly from The Russo Brothers that everyone was focused on bringing ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to a close and there wasn’t much in the way of looking forward past that. However, with a 22-film saga that has no true end in sight even if the first real chapter is coming to a close, it seems like that isn’t something we could buy into. Marvel’s head Kevin Feige was recently asked about the future of the MCU and now we have confirmation that there has still been quite a bit of world-building in development.

During his first Reddit, Ask Me Anything, he was asked: “How far is the MCU planned in advance?”

“We usually work with a specific 5-year plan at any given point but often have a general plan that extends much, much further.”

With this in mind, the MCU is planned out for at least five years. We know a few of the projects which are likely to come up such as ‘The Eternals‘, ‘Black Widow‘, and ‘Shang-Chi‘ for original movies while sequels such as ‘Black Panther 2‘, ‘Doctor Strange 2‘, ‘Captain Marvel 2’, a third movie featuring “Ant-Man”, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.‘ are all likely in the works.

This statement also suggests as to why it would be at least five years before we see the ‘Fantastic Four’ or ‘X-Men’ appear in the MCU.

However, that isn’t enough films to fill up a five-year slate with the current release schedule that they’ve been following so we’ll likely be hearing hints of even more over the coming year.
