SPOILER ALERT: Some of this information may be considered SPOILERS for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, so proceed with caution.
A new photo offers the first look at ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star Remy Hii as part of the ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ cast. As you can see above, Hii is pictured with Peter’s classmates, Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori), Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), and Betty Brant (Angourie Rice). Now the producers have revealed additional details about his character, but unfortunately, Hii isn’t portraying a figure from the comics, so don’t feel bad if you didn’t guess who he was before now.

Producer Eric Carroll described the character of Brad, saying:
“He is the kind of guy [that] guys like me and Peter hated in high school. His hair is always looking right, the clothes always fit the way they’re supposed to, he always would have something funny to say, and he’s read all the same books as MJ – or at least he lies and says he’s read all the same books as MJ… He’s not mean-spirited. He doesn’t pick on Peter or shove him in lockers. He just happens to make the girls Peter likes laugh a lot, which makes Peter uncomfortable.”
But sometimes even superheroes get bruised egos and try to show off. Carroll detailed a scene in which Peter winds up being a bigger menace than some criminals.
“Basically, [Peter] tries to make Brad look bad. And almost blows up his bus by launching some weaponized drones that this spy team has access to.”
Even with the globe-trotting in ‘Far From Home’, fans of ‘Homecoming’ should expect more of the endearing high school shenanigans that made that movie such a hit.
“We wanted to keep that sort of high school soap opera thing alive in this movie. So, if you really look back at the old Spider-Man comics, that side of it is really as important as the superhero.”
In addition to ‘Crazy Rich Asians’, Hii might be recognized from the ABC series ‘Harrow’, or Netflix’s ‘Marco Polo’. He has a role in the pilot episode of ‘Jane the Novela’.
You can catch Remy Hii and the rest of the cast in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ when it swings into theaters on July 5th, 2019.
