The Crawl

Director Alexandre Aja (‘Piranha 3D’,’The Hills Have Eyes’) is bringing us back to underwater horror with this trailer for his upcoming film ‘The Crawl.’ Even if you aren’t familiar with Aja’s work, some of the real catch here for audiences is that the Paramount Pictures landed a whale of an icon for the upcoming film as it is being produced by legendary creator Sam Raimi (‘Evil Dead’.) Joining Raimi will be Craig Flores (‘300’) and of course Aja himself.

If you’re wondering what exactly it could be about, here’s the synopsis:

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (#KayaScodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (#BarryPepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.

It would be easy to class this as a Syfy B-Movie hearing the premise, but with the talent involved and watching the trailer, you can quickly tell that this isn’t the case at all!

It should be noted that much of the buzz for this film came out in the same style that the Fyre Festival did from 2017 by heavily using social media influencers to help get the word out. It was a success here just as it was with Fyre but hopefully, this one won’t crash and burn in the same way.
