For Alien Day, Titan Books Announces 3 New Releases

Alien Day tends to be when we get the latest news and reveals for new “Alien” products and this year, Titan Books is offering up three new titles to add to our collection! We’ve got an excellent art book to look forward to as well as two new fiction novels which will be coming up over the next year! These upcoming releases are in addition to the previously announced titles ‘The Making of Alien’ by J.W. Rinzler which is slated for a July 23rd, 2019 release and Graham Langridge’s ‘Alien: The Blueprints’ which you can see in bookstores on September 10th, 2019.

First up is ‘Alien 40 years, 40 Artists’ which is a special edition being released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this iconic film. It won’t be released until October 10th, 2019:

An artistic tribute to the sci-fi horror masterpiece Alien. 40 artists, filmmakers, and fans have been invited to contribute a piece of original art to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Alien in 2019. Pieces range from alternative posters to gothic interpretations of key scenes. Sketches, process pieces, and interview text accompany each new and unique nightmare. In addition to cover artist Dane Hallett—an Alien: Covenant concept artist—the contributors include Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve, Sam Hudecki, and Tanya Lapointe; Star Wars concept artist and creature designer Terryl Whitlatch; and Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and Jon Wilcox.

Onto the fiction, the first title is being released on July 30th, 2019 and is one that many fans will be eager to snap up as Keith R.A. DeCandido is giving us ‘Alien: Isolation’:

The action-packed official adaptation of Alien: Isolation offering a revealing look into the lives of Ellen Ripley and her daughter, Amanda Ripley.

The product of a troubled and violent youth, Amanda Ripley is hell-bent on discovering what happened to her missing mother, Ellen Ripley. She joins a Weyland-Yutani team sent to retrieve the Nostromo flight recorder, only to find space station Sevastopol in chaos with a Xenomorph aboard. Flashbacks reveal Amanda’s history and events that forced her mother to take the assignment aboard the Nostromo.

On October 29th, 2019 we’ll be able to see fan-favorite author Tim Waggoner (‘The Winter Box,’ ‘Blood Island’) giving us ‘Alien: Prototype’ which is described as:

Corporate spy Tamar Prather steals a Xenomorph egg from Weyland-Yutani, taking it to a lab facility run by Venture, a Weyland-Yutani competitor. Former Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks—now allied with the underground resistance—infiltrates Venture’s security team. When a human test subject is impregnated, the result is a Xenomorph that, unless it’s stopped, will kill every human being on the planet.

All of these titles look great, and I’m eager to see them hit bookshelves everywhere. Hopefully, they can help tide us over until one of the 2 “Alien” television shows which are currently in development see the light of day.
