Here Is A First Look At Sci-Fi Thriller 'Vivarium' Starring Jesse Eisenberg And Imogen Poots

Science fiction thriller ‘Vivarium’ will make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.  The picture, directed by Lorcan Finnegan, stars Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots as a young engaged couple, who find themselves trapped in a bizarre subdivision with no apparent way out.  Above, you can see the first image released from the film.  (There isn’t even a trailer for it yet.)  XYZ Films has the global distribution rights and hopes to find foreign buyers at the film festival.

Eisenberg and Poots will play a couple who follow a mysterious real estate agent to a new housing development to find the perfect starter home, only to become trapped in a maze of identical homes and forced to raise an otherworldly child.

Jack Hudson costars as the real estate agent.

The picture was filmed last July in Finnegan’s native Ireland.  This is Finnegan’s second feature film, following 2016’s ‘Without Name’, which won four prizes at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.

Poots may be recognized from ’28 Weeks Later’, ‘Green Room’, or ‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’.  She costarred on the Showtime series ‘Roadies’, which was created by Cameron Crowe and costarred Luke Wilson.  She is currently filming the action-thriller ‘Prisoners of the Ghostland’ with Nicolas Cage, and the HBO TV series ‘I Know This Much Is True’, which stars Mark Ruffalo as identical twins, one of whom is a paranoid schizophrenic.  Poots also appeared in the pilot for FX’s ‘Y’, based on the comic book ‘Y: The Last Man’.  She portrayed Hero, the sister of Yorick, the series’ main character.  That series is currently being retooled.

Eisenberg recently wrapped ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’, the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 cult classic horror-comedy.  He also has the World War II drama ‘Resistance’ in the can, and is preparing to appear in ‘The Medusa’, set in post-Napoleonic France.  He is probably best recognized for films such as ‘The Social Network’, ‘American Ultra’, ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’, and the ‘Now You See Me’ flicks.
