Fans of Channing Tatum (’21 Jump Street’,’Kingsman: The Golden Circle’) who were unsure if Marvel Studios and Disney could still allow the planned ‘Gambit’ movie to happen are getting a slight reprieve. While the film hasn’t officially been canceled, it and all the other current Fox movies are “being evaluated” as to if they’ll move forward with production or not according to screenwriter Simon Kinberg.

Kinberg was asked about the film during the Hollywood premiere of CBS All Access’ new take on ‘The Twilight Zone‘:
“All of the movies at Fox are being evaluated.
I love the idea of Channing playing Gambit. I think we have a great script for it and I think it’s a role he was born to play. It’s a character I grew up loving, and I know the fans love. So I suspect, I hope it will happen.”
As this take on Gambit never materialized in Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise, there is a chance he could be worked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point down the line, but it isn’t clear when we could see mutants start to emerge in these films. I wouldn’t hold my breath on it though.
As to who he’d love to see from the current MCU showing up with the X-Men down the line?
“I would say probably either somebody from Wakanda or Iron Man. I mean I love [Robert Downey Jr.]. I’ve worked with him. I love what he does with that character. I feel like he created the tonal template for the MCU with the first ‘Iron Man’ movie. And so the notion of Iron Man popping up in ‘X-Men’ or Iron Man interacting with Deadpool is pretty exciting.”
