Lord Of The Rings

Secrecy is on the rise in Hollywood as every new movie and television show tries to protect their secrets before release and Amazon Studios is no different. In fact, the streaming company may have taken things up a notch for their billion-dollar-bet on their ‘Lord of the Rings’ live-action series which is in the works. Production has only pushed forward far enough to put together a writers’ room and to get into it you might need the fabled Ring of Power itself if you aren’t part of the show’s staff.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke was recently asked about the show and gave details on how the studio was keeping everything a secret:

“There’s a fantastic writers room working under lock and key. They’re already generating really exciting material. They’re down in Santa Monica. You have to go through such clearance, and they have all their windows taped closed. And there’s a security guard that sits outside, and you have to have a fingerprint to get in there because their whole board is up on a thing of the whole season.”

It sounds like things aren’t quite as serious to have sharks with lasers guarding the secretive series quite yet, but we’re not far from that happening. The new show is so secretive that we don’t even know if it will follow what we’ve seen in the films so far, J. R. R. Tolkien’s other works, material that Peter Jackson didn’t include in his films, or possibly even new stories set in the world which Tolkien had crafted.

These are the types of details which Amazon Studios are trying to prevent us from seeing in advance.

Are you looking forward to Amazon Studios giving us a new take on ‘Lord of the Rings’? Do you feel that this security will pay off for the surprises we’ll see when streaming this series? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
