Despite the fact that today’s big Spidey news may be about ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ finally releasing a teaser trailer online (which you can watch here), there is still more exciting news about ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and the talk of a sequel. According to Variety, who caught up with directors Rodney Rothman, Peter Ramsey, and Bob Persichetti at the Critics Choice Awards recently, the sequel to the mega-hit is already being planned, and they MAY have let something slip about what exactly they are planning. Check out the video for yourself below:

Here’s the basics of what Rothman says in the video:
“Do you have time? I’ll tell you literally everything that’s going to happen in the sequel. We’re gonna start with Miles, we’re gonna cut to two years later, obviously.”
Since he is both urged on and shushed following that statement, it is unclear how much truth there might be to the “two years later” statement, though it would make sense from a story-standpoint, as it would allow Miles to grow into his own Spider-Man persona, get some experience under his belt, and built up his own Rogues Gallery for the next time he meets up with his alternate universe friends (should they be included in the sequel). And with rumors and discussion with the creatives revealed earlier this month about how a sequel would focus on Miles and Gwen (given some credibility since she popped up at the end of ‘Into the Universe’ in Miles’ house), this would also give their friendship time to grow before we saw them working together again. True, there is not much to go on here, and officially Sony has yet to green-light that sequel, but after winning the Golden Globes for Best Animated Feature and doing so well in the box-office, I cannot imagine a scenario where Sony would not move forward with a sequel.
Do you have any interesting ideas for where they could go with Miles and Gwen in a second movie? Are there any other versions of Spider-Man from other parts of the Spider-Verse that you hope get included if they go that route again? Feel free to share your theories and hopes for the next movie in the comments below!
