Men In Black: International

As we know, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are suiting up for the spin-off ‘Men in Black: International’.  Now the first trailer has arrived and it reveals that Thompson’s character, eventually known as Agent M, has been tracking down the mysterious MIB for years and has finally found them.  Once inducted, she is partnered with Chris Hemsworth’s swaggering Agent H.

The trailer also features Emma Thompson, reprising her role as Agent O, and Liam Neeson as the head of the London branch of the MIB organization.  Like the previous films in this franchise, this new installment features loads of over-the-top action and comedy, with various high-tech gadgets used to police the extraterrestrials dwelling on the Earth.

Though it isn’t clear in the trailer, this adventure will span the globe, going beyond London.  We have already seen photos of Hemsworth and Thompson in the desert.  ‘Men in Black International’ also stars Rebecca FergusonKumail Nanjiani, and Rafe Spall.  Ferguson’s role is unknown, but Nanjiani plays an alien named Pawny, while Spall is a villain of some sort.Hemsworth and Thompson have worked together before.  Last year, they costarred in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.  Hemsworth will return as Thor in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.  Thompson’s Valkyrie’s status is currently unknown.

Director F. Gary Gray previously helmed another fun adventure movie, ‘The Italian Job’, as well as ‘The Fate of the Furious’ and the dramatic biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’.  His first film was the original ‘Friday’, a comedy classic.  He should have no problem balancing comedy and action, the way Barry Sonnenfeld did with the original three films.

In October, Hemsworth said:

“We’re basically trying to put a lot of humor into it like the previous ones. These are obviously some big big shoes to fill, so we’re working our butts off on it to make something pretty epic and fun.  They’re trying to change up the locations, make it feel unique and different to the last ones as well. So I think you might even see some different countries, maybe. Some different cities than you’ve seen in the previous Men In Black movies.”

‘Men in Black: International’ will be released on June 14, 2019.
