If you mention the name George R.R. Martin instantly fans think of horrible deaths, Westeros, and the inability for the author to sit still and work on ‘Winds of Winter.’ We know that Martin has been busy with the final season of  ‘Game of Thrones’, a spin-off prequel, and most recently the release of his “non-fiction” ‘Fire & Blood’ release which was made to show the imaginary history of the Targaryens. Fans have, of course, picked up a copy to learn anything new about the “A Song Of Ice And Fire” world which spawned ‘Game of Thrones’ but that isn’t the book which many want to read.

Martin knows this and shared that he is thankful for your patience and revealed he is back to working on the novel:

“And most of all, my thanks go out to my fans and readers. I know you want WINDS, and I am going to give it to you… but I am delighted that you stayed with me for this one as well. Your patience and unflagging support means the world to me.
Enjoy the read. Me, I am back in my fortress of solitude, and back in Westeros. It won’t be tomorrow, and it won’t be next week, but you will get the end of A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE. Meanwhile, you have the final season of GAME OF THRONES coming, and the new show that is not yet officially called THE LONG NIGHT being cast, and a couple more shows still being scripted… and a few other cool things in the works as well.
Winter is not the only thing that is coming.”

Winter might not be the only thing coming, but it is the ‘Winds of Winter’ that we’re hoping for and it sounds like Martin is planning on putting his full effort into finalizing the book. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait and see if that proves true or not.
