A new trailer for the sequel to ‘Godzilla’ has dropped and is sure to give fans some monster nostalgia!
The first look at ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ premiered at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer. The footage released by Warner Bros. featured Millie Bobby Brown’s character staring over an apocalyptic city. With humanity on the brink of extinction, their only hope may be the monster they once feared.
The new trailer does not reveal any more plot details, but it is styled as a Japanese cut that fans are loving. Godzilla himself hails from Japan, so the history of the monster and the country are inseparable. The official Twitter page for ‘Godzilla’ Japan recently informed fans that a panel for the upcoming film will be held at Tokyo Comic Con 2018. The tweet read:
“Director Michael Dougherty’s visit for ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters!’ On December 1, a special panel will be held at Tokyo Comic Con 2018. The world premiere of new footage and giant Godzilla statue will be shown. Limited edition posters and S.H. MonsterArts figures will also premiere at the event.”
While not many details are known about the sequel, it is to be a follow up to the 2014 film ‘Godzilla.’ Godzilla will be sharing the big screen with other creatures such as Mothra, Rodan, and even King Ghidorah.
‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ is set to premiere in theaters on May 31, 2019. Check out the official synopsis below:
“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah,” the film’s synopsis reads. “When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
