It isn’t responsible to go into battle without being suited up for war and these two new shots from ‘Aquaman‘ show that Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry is going to fight responsibly. Not only are we in the middle of an action sequence but our aquatic hero has donned armor to prepare for what must be a massive fight. While we’ve seen comic book accurate looks of the character so far, this is the first time we get to see a new costume that he’ll have on.
We’ve seen plenty of shots with Arthur holding his trident, and in the first image here he is preparing to use it for battle!
You won’t have to wonder for long as to who he’ll be wielding the trident against as our second image has our hero squaring off with Patrick Wilson’s Orm. This is Arthur’s half-brother who wants to wage war on the surface world, but he’s going to have to go through ‘Aquaman’ to make his dreams of conquest a reality.
When talking about what we can expect from the film, director James Wan shared the following with these images:
“Obviously I loved the movies of George Lucas and Spielberg. This movie is my embrace of all the filmmakers I grew up loving; those sort of Spielberg-inspired wonderment movies from the ‘80s […] I finally get the chance to design some really fantastic worlds, the kind you’re used to seeing in Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings.”
An early preview of some of the action for the movie had critics comparing ‘Aquaman’ to ‘Lord of the Rings’ so it seems like Wan was able to get his wish on being able to successfully flex his creative muscle in new ways.
What do you think of the armor ‘Aquaman’ is wearing in these two photos? Will this be a standard fight in the movie or are we looking at one of the major plot points playing out in these stills? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
