‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ doesn’t even arrive in theaters until next May, but Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers are already on the fast track to the next film in their giant monster shared universe, ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’. Two new names have been added to the all-star cast, Rebecca Hall and Eiza González. They join ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters” Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Ziyi Zhang, who are returning, as well as Alexander Skarsgård, Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry and Demián Bichir. ‘Black Panther’ and ‘The Walking Dead”s Danai Gurira is reportedly also in the movie, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Hall is best known for ‘Iron Man 3’, ‘The Town’, and ‘The Prestige’. She starred as Elizabeth Marston, the wife of the creator of ‘Wonder Woman’ in the indie hit ‘Professor Marston and the Wonder Women’. She will next be seen in ‘Holmes & Watson’, a comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, which opens on Christmas weekend. She just wrapped the Woody Allen picture ‘A Rainy Day in New York’.
González may be best known for starring on ‘From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series’ which ran for three seasons on the El Rey Network and Netflix. She was last seen on the big screen in Edgar Wright’s ‘Baby Driver’. Coincidentally, González also has a movie opening on Christmas weekend, opposite Hall’s ‘Holmes & Watson’– ‘Welcome to Marwen’, directed by Robert Zemeckis, which stars Steve Carell as a man who deals with PTSD by building a miniature version of his town and populating it with dolls made to look like its inhabitants. She will be seen next year in ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, and is currently filming the Valiant Comics adaptation ‘Bloodshot’, opposite Vin Diesel.
Neither Hall’s nor González’ roles have been disclosed. ‘Godzilla Vs. Kong’ is the fourth film in this series, following 2014’s ‘Godzilla’, 2017’s ‘Kong: Skull Island’, and next year’s ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’.
Directed by Adam Wingard, ‘Godzilla Vs.Kong’ already has a release date of May 22, 2020.
