doctor who

With every new regeneration in ‘Doctor Who’ comes some confusion on the part of the iconic Time Lord. Previous versions of the time traveling Earth protector have had issues coming to terms with things like the new age, face, even kidneys! But this regeneration will be like no other, as the Doctor will regenerate into a woman for the first time.

In the first clip released for the upcoming season, we see that, thanks to the memory-affecting nature of the regeneration, Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor will discover the gender right along with the rest of us. She can’t even remember who she is, just that she’s “looking for a doctor,” and that she was just “a white-haired scot!”

It was announced last July that Whittaker would be playing the Doctor, and she has spoken about what the role means to her, saying:

“It’s more than an honor to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait. It feels completely overwhelming, as a feminist, as a woman, as an actor, as a human, as someone who wants to continually push themselves and challenge themselves, and not be boxed in by what you’re told you can and can’t be. It feels incredible.”

The premiere episode of season 11 called ‘The Woman Who Fell to Earth’ features new companions Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Wash) as their lives are thrown upside down when a mysterious woman, unable to remember her own name, falls from the night sky. Perhaps she can help solve the mysteries that have been happening in their city!
