Syfy is mixing things up for the fourth installment of its creepypasta-inspired horror anthology series ‘Channel Zero’. Previous seasons, which have all consisted of six episodes, have aired over the course of six weeks. But this year, as part of the network’s ’31 Days of Halloween’ event, the newest season, entitled ‘The Dream Door’ based on Charlotte Bywater’s “I Found a Hidden Door in My Cellar And I Think I’ve Made a Big Mistake,” will debut on October 26, with a new episode airing every night, the last of which will arrive on Halloween night, October 31. But in an even more daring move, after the first episode premieres on Oct. 26, ALL of the remaining episodes will be available to stream on demand!
Evan ‘E.L.’ Katz (‘ABCs of Death 2’, ‘Scream: The Series’) directs this installment, which stars Brandon Scott, Maria Sten, Steven Robertson, Barbara Crampton and Steven Weber. Scott plays Tom, who is described as “a capable and thoughtful man who is deeply in love with his wife. But he’s troubled when secrets from their past threaten the marriage,” while Sten plays Tom’s wife Jillian, “a landscape designer who has just married her childhood best friend. They’ve just moved into the house where he grew up – a house they hope to transform, through their combined skills, into their dream home.”
Robertson portrays their next door neighbor Ian, an open-minded psychology grad student who becomes involved in Tom and Jillian’s bizarre experience with the mysterious door in their basement.” Weber will portray Jillian’s therapist Abel Carnacki, who is skeptical when Jillian “tries to talk to him about what — or who — was behind the door in their basement.” Crampton was just announced as taking part in the series, so not much is known about her character, other than her name– Vanessa Moss.
Fans are passionate about ‘Channel Zero’ with the term “the scariest show on TV” frequently applied to it. Creator Nick Ontosca previously stated:
“Every season I think of as a kind of fan fiction of the original Creepypasta. In a way it’s our version of – it’s a new mythology of the original story. I’ve said this before, but I think of each season as kind of like a nightmare that you might have after reading the original story that it’s based on.”
‘Channel Zero: The Dream Door”s first episode will air on Syfy on October 26, and all episodes will be released on VOD afterward. The remaining five episodes will air on Syfy from October 27-31.
