Hello to all and welcome back for an all-new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! As we dive into the new month of September, things are relatively quiet on the toy front. This isn’t always a bad thing though, because it gives us time to catch up a bit on collectibles that are already on the market that we may have missed! This week we have a few new items from our friends at Diamond Select, Hasbro, NECA and Funko. It may not sound like a lot, but there’s still plenty of awesome things to see in the Toy News for the week of September 4th, 2018!
New ‘Marvel Legends’ From The Great White North
Fans of the 6″ scale ‘Marvel Legends’ toyline from Hasbro are in for a real treat this week as we have a first look at four all-new figures that are coming our way in the next few months! This past weekend at Fan Expo Canada the team at Hasbro held a panel where they revealed four all-new figures from the ‘Marvel Legends’ from the line that looks to be Hasbro’s way of saying “we know our old stuff isn’t the best and we wanted to make up for it”! The new figures revealed at Fan Expo Canada include Alpha Flight’s Guardian, Mystique, Weapon-X Wolverine, and a Wendigo Build-A-Figure! of these characters, Hasbro has previously produced figured of Mystique, Guardian, and Wendigo, but these were all prior to their relaunch and revamp of the line. We have also previously seen a 6″ scale ‘Marvel Legends’ figure of Weapon-X Wolverine over a decade ago back when the line was produced by ToyBiz! It’s great to see new updated versions of these fantastic characters, and it’s rather fitting that these were announced at Fan Expo Canada, as three of four characters (everyone except Mystique) that were revealed have Canadian origins.
Coming Soon To A Galaxy Far, Far, Away
Not wanting to leave their ‘Star Wars’ fans hanging, the team at Hasbro also announced several new figures in their ‘Star Wars’ toylines! While images were only formally released for two of them, fans at Fan Expo Canada were treated to a first look at new figures for the 6″ scale ‘Star Wars: Black Series’ like ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Dryden Vos (who features scars that change color depending on the room temperature) and ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ Ezra Bridger, along with re-releases of some of the line’s rarer figures like X-Wing Pilot Luke Skywalker, and bounty hunters Boba Fett, IG-88, and Bossk! Also revealed for the smaller scaled 3.75″ ‘Star Wars: The Vintage Collection’ is an all-new figure of Captain Phasma. These figures are all anticipated to be hitting the shelves by year’s end!
