If you’ve been dying to see who Guillermo del Toro and André Øvredal have cast for their upcoming ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ then we’ve got you covered! This cinematic take of Alvin Schwartz’s young adult horror novels have had a lot of hype from the built-in fan base, and when CBS Films and eOne brought del Toro on board, you couldn’t help be thrilled to see how things would play out.
Now, casting news is here, and we’ve learned that the director and producers have tapped Michael Garza (‘Wayward Pines’,’The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1′), Austin Abrams (‘Brad’s Status’,’The Americans’), Gabriel Rush (‘Moonrise Kingdom’,’The Grand Budapest Hotel’), Austin Zajur (‘Fist Fight’,’Kidding’), and Natalie Ganzhorn (‘Make it Pop’,’Wet Bum’) to the film! We’ve got a nice mix of newer actors as well as a few that you’ll likely recognize which seems to be the perfect combination for a film like this one.
According to director Øvredal:
“We spent months searching for and assembling the perfect group of actors to help us realize the most terrifying adaptation that we could conceive”
It was a nice mix of actors, and del Toro agrees, sharing that:
“I am honored to support Andre’s vision and, with our partners, to bring the incredible world of Scary Stories to the screen.”
The famed director initially became attached to the film on the production side back in January of 2016 and is finally set to begin filming after two and a half years of development. That isn’t long for your general development timetable of a major motion picture though, for those who grew up with the books, it has been an eternity waiting for more news!
