Uncanny X-Men

During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con we learned that the ‘Uncanny X-Men’ was making a comeback but didn’t know much past that. Now we’ve learned that ‘Uncanny X-Men’ #1 will be released on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018! Not only that, but the series will have an all-star set of creators putting it together.

This series is set to launch with a 10-part event that will be released weekly that is a callback to an ‘Avengers’ story arc with this one called “Disassembled.” It will be put together by writers Ed Brisson (EXTERMINATION), Kelly Thompson (MR. AND MRS. X), and Matthew Rosenberg (PHOENIX RESURRECTION, ASTONISHING X-MEN) with the equally “X-perienced” artistic team of Mahmud Asrar (X-MEN RED), R.B. Silva (X-MEN BLUE), Yildiray Cinar (WEAPON X), and Pere Perez (ROGUE AND GAMBIT). Leinil Frances Yu will provide artwork for the covers.

This story arc will see an “epic tale of mystery and tragic disappearance,” and for the mutants that are still around they must join forces for “an adventure so Earth-shattering, it could very well be the X-Men’s FINAL mission!” I’m pretty sure with the X-Men’s cinematic rights about to return to Marvel Studios through the Walt Disney purchase of Fox that all of this will be resolved by the end of this series.

In “Avengers Disassembled” we saw the major lineup of the team changed around with many heroes nearly dying and things falling apart for the team left and right. With so many mutants going missing, it sounds like we’ll have specific similar ideas finding a way into the comic with the teams being shuffled around.

I know we’re all sick of the crossovers in Marvel but to deal with getting rid of the younger iterations of the X-Men and get the comics back to something a bit more readable we need one more out of this world event when it comes to mutants, and I’m hoping this one will be it! It should be noted that none of the time-displaced X-Men is visible in this image which would appear to mean that they’re actually wrapping up their storyline as promised before this one kicks off.

Are you looking forward to the return of ‘Uncanny X-Men’? Which of the creators is your favorite to see working on the ‘X-Men’ franchise? Do you have any guesses as to which mutants will disappear for this event? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
