Straight from San Diego Comic-Con comes the trailer for ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’! The latest Wizarding World film arrives this winter and introduces a menagerie of new creatures and human characters, and of course, the crew from the original are back as well. The two most high-profile newcomers, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore and Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald are heavily showcased, so if you were curious how these two would do in these roles, this at least gives you an idea.
The clip opens with a young Newt Scamander (Joshua Shea) in Dumbledore’s Defense Against the Dark Arts class, revealing what he’s most afraid of. According to this trailer, he has nothing to worry about.
The narrative of the story doesn’t come through, but there’s plenty of those surrealist Wizarding World visuals, magical creatures, and explosions. There are snippets of dialogue, but once again, they only tease at what the film itself contains. Though not as vital as Dumbledore and Grindelwald, the trailer ends with the introduction of immortal Nicolas Flamel (Brontis Jodorowsky), who has… seen better days.

Star Eddie Redmayne recently stated what makes this movie different from the first.
“The most riveting aspect is the tonal change. It’s darker and more rigorous and weaving in the ‘Potter’ lore we’re much more familiar with. So, these characters you met in the first film are now in the wizarding world you understand more thoroughly. When I read [the script] it had these cryptic elements to it and it played like a thriller that made it a page-turner.”
David Yates returned to direct ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’. In addition to Redmayne, Depp, and Law, the film also stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Carmen Ejogo and Claudia Kim. The script was written by J.K. Rowling.
‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’ opens on November 16, 2018.
