Nathan Fillion recently released a tease regarding a connection between himself and the ‘Uncharted’ video game franchise. Now, we know exactly what he was talking about! Fillion stars in short fan film as the main character in the game, Nathan Drake.
The film is set on the Baja Peninsula and shows a vehicle convoy arriving at a large estate. A person with a bag over their head gets rushed inside and we see that it is Nathan Drake, the treasure hunting character from the ‘Uncharted’ game series.
Toward the end of the fan film, Drake jumps out a window, draws a gun and says, “just like old times” and commences a crazy gun sequence that looks like something straight out of the game. Drake then gives his hallmark flying punch to the sounds of his theme music playing in the background.
In addition to Fillion, the film also co-stars Stephen Lang as Victor “Sully” Sullivan and Mircea Monroe as Elena.
This fan film comes from many requests by fans of the franchise to have Fillion play Drake in a movie. In an Instagram post that accompanied the reveal, Fillion spoke about his desire to play the role as well. Check it out below!
While the fan film, directed by Alan Ungar, may excite Fillion fans, it does make things a tad awkward considering there is a planned prequel movie starring Tom Holland. Various directors have tried over the years to make ‘Uncharted’ into a franchise, with scripts from Joe Carnahan, David Guggenheim, and Eric Warren Singer. Sony Pictures will distribute the ‘Uncharted’ prequel that is produced by Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner and Ari Arad.
