tremors

Sorry Graboid fans, Syfy has passed on the upcoming ‘Tremors’ television series. Even having Kevin Bacon in it didn’t seem to have the pilot pass what the network wanted so viewers won’t have a chance to return to Perfection quite yet. While that doesn’t mean another network or streaming service won’t come along and snatch it up, that almost seems unlikely with Netflix recently having switched to pushing for completely original content and Amazon Studios having originally been attached to the series but had backed out when they read the pilot’s script.

The sad news came directly from Bacon who shared it on Instagram by stating that:

“Sad to report that my dream of revisiting the world of Perfection will not become a reality. Although we made a fantastic pilot (IMHO) the network has decided not to move forward. Thanks to our killer cast and everyone behind the scenes who worked so hard. And always keep one eye out for GRABOIDS!”

It isn’t clear if the pilot will be released or shopped around to another network at this time. Universal Cable Productions had put the pilot together with Vincenzo Natali in the director’s chair based on a script that was penned by Andrew Miller.

The idea behind the new show would have had it taking place 25 years after Perfection, Nevada had initially been attacked by Graboids. Bacon was back as Valentine McKee and would once again by trying to put a stop to these sandworms. Working against him was age, a hero complex, and alcohol.

One has to hope that the recently canceled ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead‘ didn’t have anything to do with the studio changing direction. However, while Bacon loved what ended up being put together this is now two networks who weren’t thrilled by the end result.

Oh well, maybe Kevin Bacon would be open to coming back for ‘Tremors 7.’
