Fans of ‘Shazam!’ have been curious as to what director David F. Sandberg had in store for the movie when unexpectedly the first shot of the hero emerged. However, this wasn’t a planned production release and the costume leak wasn’t expected!
What is surprising in a world of cinematic updates is how accurate to the comic this suit looked with its two-tiered cape, buccaneer boots,”tights, and armbands! These days most uniforms have been updated to be more practical or modernized in a way that has them looking grounded. This classic look is almost whimsical in comparison. Likely, the perfect choice as to how we’d want to see it up on the big screen!
Zachary Levi, who is playing the character, has now shared details about the leaked photo on social media:

So according to Levi:
“That wasn’t planned. That was completely unplanned, and hopefully, we’ll be able to have a better pic at some point out there for people to see.”
Sandberg had previously mentioned that we’d be seeing a costume similar to the look in the animated feature ‘Justice League: War’ which would have a hood on the cape. Specifically, the director had stated that:
“Actually, if someone had managed to snap a shot of the suit last week when we were shooting outside they would have released an official pic right away. Since we got away with it they want to do more of an official thing. And it’s right around the corner…”
It looks as if we won’t have to wait too much longer full a fully realized shot of the character. I imagine that after this leak occurred that they’d want to reveal a production still sooner than later.
