We’ve just learned that April Bowlby (‘Drop Dead Diva,’ ‘The Slammin’ Salmon’) has been tapped to join the DC live-action series ‘Titans’! She’ll be portraying Rita Farr who fans might better know as Elasti-Girl from the series. We know that before getting super powers that Rita Farr was an actress with a career path that would make her one of the biggest stars in the world. Only, when you mix in a little toxic gas exposure, her entire cellular structure is altered that allows her to expand or shrink her body by thought alone.
We’ve been wondering what iteration of The Doom Patrol would be making an appearance on the series and this is helping define exactly who we’ll be seeing on the small screen. She’ll be joining Bruno Bichir who is playing The Chief, Dr. Niles Caulder. With these two on the team so far, chances are we’ll also see casting announcements for Negative Man and Robotman to round out the original iteration of these heroes.
Of course, they could always take liberties with the series and add a few other faces, but Robotman is likely a lock.
The ‘Titans’ themselves have already been cast and has Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly as Hawk and Dove who may or may not be teammates to the above heroes.
At this time, we only know that the fifth episode titled “The Doom Patrol” will feature these other heroes on DC’s new digital platform when the show kicks off, but if there is enough interest, we will likely see them return.
