If you’re looking to enjoy some romance of a geeky nature this Valentine’s Day it looks like the ‘Geek Love Chapel’ is set to return! On Facebook Live you can watch as genre superfans celebrate their love in style. They’ll be celebrating by having their ceremony “officiated by actor and self-professed geek Orlando Jones (‘American Gods’).” SYFY‘s Facebook page is the ultimate destination for love, or at least enjoying the love of our fellow geeks.
The pitch is that “fans across the world can watch genre-obsessed couples cosplay down the aisle to tie the knot or renew their vows.”
This event isn’t the first outing of the ‘Geek Love Chapel’ for SYFY as they initially held one at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. There, Jones was again on hand to help bring these “superfan nuptials” to life! So far we’ve seen anything “from “Star Wars”-themed cosplay ceremonies to “Batman”-inspired accessories” and I’m honestly dying to see what we can check out this time around.
Personally, I’m hoping we get something from Marvel this time around, but each pair of fans, of course, will celebrate the geekdom that they love! With one outing already down, “SYFY is proud to bring geek love to the world with laughter, tears and lifelong commitments on the most appropriate day of the year.” It really is the perfect way to celebrate the love of your life with the love of your fandom.
The network stresses that “All fans are encouraged to share their own geek love stories and photos on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #ItsAFanThing. SYFY will retweet or repost the most outrageous and touching superfan romance tales on the network’s social channels.”
If you want to check out the SYFY’s ‘Geek Love Chapel,’ it will be “broadcast via Facebook Live on the SYFY Facebook page Wednesday, February 14 beginning at 2 PM/1c.”
