Netflix

Earlier this year, Netflix launched ‘Puss In Book: Trapped In An Epic Tale’ and ‘Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile’ which were choose-your-own-adventure styled shows for kids. Now the network is planning to bring the idea to adults as well! With the network’s future of hosting Marvel’s Netflix shows in question as well as the still untested Millarworld properties which they’ve just bet big on, the streaming service is, of course, looking for new ways to retain as well as draw in new customers.

This format allows for quite a bit of flexibility and also would encourage multiple viewing of a series especially since every decision you make can change the remainder of the show. If made to the same high standard of other Netflix shows, that means fans will want to binge watch all of the iterations that they can!

The concept is being helmed by Netflix’s chief content officer, Ted Sarandos though it is still a bit early in production to know what genres we can expect. With the network’s successes in science fiction and horror, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see one of those two iterations make it to the streaming service.

Can you imagine a slasher film where you’re tasked with actually surviving it?

The network has had its share of hits with the various Marvel shows, ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Godless’, ‘Alias Grace’ and so many others that they’re in a position to really experiment going forward. Even with recent setbacks from losing stars due to sexual harassment, from Kevin Spacey on ‘House of Cards’ to Danny Masterson on ‘The Ranch’, they’ve still got a huge fan base and at least appear to be making the right call on how to handle these issues for their audiences.

What genres do you hope that Netflix will try for with their first choose-your-own-adventure series for adults? Does this kind of entertainment sound like something you’d enjoy participating in? Share your thoughts below!
