The forces of good versus evil may not be as clear-cut as we were lead to believe in the world of the new ‘Star Wars’ films, particularly with the release of the newest trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ seeming to hint at the fact that Rey (Daisy Ridley) may look to work alongside the villainous Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

The Japanese poster and trailer for the film seem to shed a little more light on the subject.  Starting with the poster: Rey and Luke have essentially traded places, with Rey now taking the more dominant center/looming position that has traditionally fallen to the “bad guys” of the series.  In addition, Luke is now shown wielding a lightsaber – not his own classic green saber, however, but the white-bladed weapon that once belonged to his father, Anakin/Darth Vader.

A Reddit user provided a translated description of the synopsis for the film, which further calls into question Rey’s loyalties.  Take a look:

The Light? The Darkness? Rey and Kylo, two people who seem to move between the two; a new shocking development is hinted to await them in Star Wars – The Last Jedi.

Although the world was shocked to see that the hand offered to Rey belonged to that of Kylo Ren, what awaits Rey and Kylo is the question of “The Light? Or the Darkness?”, as together they are tossed and moved by the powerful Force.

Rey, who, even though in the previous film ‘The Force Awakens’ awakened the Force, carries a sense of being lost and unsure; will she be taken away by the darkness…. Kylo, who killed Han Solo, despite the fact that he was his real father; will the hopeful small amount of light that still remains in his heart be able to undo the darkness!?

These two figures who seem to resonate with each other; we cannot take our eyes off of them!

Since it’s now officially November, the wait to see the new film and get the answers we seek is growing shorter and shorter!

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ will premiere in American theaters on December 15, 2017.
